| NORTHRIDGE,
CA – OCTOBER 8, 2002 – At the recent AES trade show
in Los Angeles, the JBL Professional MPro MP418SP was honored
with a 2002 TEC Award. The powered, single 18-inch subwoofer with
built-in Crown amplifier won the award for Sound Reinforcement
Loudspeaker Technology.
Gerald Tschetter,
Director, MI Products for JBL Professional stated, “JBL
created the market acceptance of powered speakers with the success
of the JBL EON line. We wanted to raise the bar by introducing
a self-powered, high-performance subwoofer. When it came time
to develop the product, it was a natural step to combine forces
with Crown to build a very compact, but high-powered subwoofer.”

The MP418SP powered
subwoofer is the first JBL product to feature an internal Crown
amplifier. The innovative two-channel amplifier provides 660 watts
(4 ohms) per channel, with channel one providing power to the
internal 18" speaker and channel two available to power a
second passive subwoofer or a full range satellite speaker. In
some cases, customers have added the MP418SP to existing systems,
both portable and permanent. In other cases, complete systems
are configured utilizing the MP418SP together with other MPro
speaker models.
