KENNEDY
SPACE CENTER, FLORIDA & FRANKFURT, GERMANY - MARCH 7, 2001 - After a
year of development, component innovation and consumer research, the
new MPro lines of sound reinforcement speakers are being introduced
by JBL Professional. Two distinct segments exist, the MPro 200 Series
and MPro 400 Series, each containing full-range two way speakers as
well as complementary passive and active subwoofers. MPro Speakers are
built for live sound, clubs, DJs, houses of worship and other applications
that require quality audio at all ranges of volumes. One of the new
models, the MP418SP is a subwoofer with an integrated power amplifier
with signal processing developed and built by Crown Audio. This is the
first product introduced that was developed cooperatively by JBL Professional
and Crown Audio.
Each MPro speaker (except subwoofers) features a tough SMC Laminar Flow
Baffle(tm), a single-piece that integrates hort, ports, baffle and woofer
mounting. The smooth, rounded contours of the baffle and seamless one-peice
structure reduce turbulence and diffraction effects for reduced distortion.
SMC is a sheet molding compound technology used extensively inthe automotive
industry that allows for rigidity and maximum acoustic performance.
All cabinets are made of 18mm multi-ply selected woods using tongue
and groove construction techniques. High-frequency components are protected
by JBL's exclusive SonicGuard(tm), which offers protection without changing
the sound or interrupting the performance. Roadworthiness is assured
through the use of heavy-duty steel handles, 16 gauge-steel hexagonally-perforated
grilles and quality professional coverings. For versatility and ease
of set up, all MPro speakers have pole-mount receptacles and the MP215
subwoofer is shipped with a pole included for this purpose.
"In developing the MPro line, we looked at the changes in the way music
professionals, DJs as well as musicians, are using live sound speakers,"
stated Michael MacDonald, President of JBL Professional. "Many MPro
attributes, such as extended frequency response, compact size, and easy
handling are a direct result."
The first five models in the MPro Lines were introduced concurrently
at the Frankfurt MusikMesse and immediately following the NSCA Show
at a Launch event at Cape Canaveral's Kennedy Space Center. The initial
MPro 200 Series offerings are:
MPro MP215. 15 Inch Two-Way Speaker System.
MPro MP255S. Dual 15-Inch Subwoofer in an innovative dual-tuned,
band-pass enclosure.
All MPro 200 Series speakers feature carpet-covered cabinets for keeping
their new look and to aid in loading in and out of trucks and cars.
The professional quality JBL low frequency transducers have edge-wound
voice coils for high power handling and output. Titanium diaphragms
and ferro-fluid cooling provide extended high frequencies and high power
handling inthe 1" JBL compression drivers. Large 75¡ axisymmetrical
constant directivity horns provide control over high frequency dispersion.
The first MPro Series 400 models to be released are:
MPro MP410 10-Inch Two-Way Speaker System. Compact speaker system
for use by itself or with subwoofers.
MPro MP418. Single 18-Inch, compact bass-reflex subwoofer.
MPro MP418SP. Powered single 18-Inch subwoofer in bass-reflex
cabinet with Crown amplification.
MPro 400 Series speakers are covered with JBL's patented Duraflex(tm)
finish for toughness and speaker longevity. Premium JBL components allow
MPro 400 Series speakers to deliver reliable power and sonic clarity.
Cast frame low frequency transducers with edge wound voice coils and
1.75" ARD(tm) (Anular Ring Diaphragm) Technology Compression Drivers
are standard in MPro 400 Series speakers.
MPro Series speakers will be available through JBL authorized dealers
and distributors beginning April, 2001.
